AI Auto Cropper is an online tool that finds every printed photo on a scanned album page or flatbed sheet and crops each one into its own JPG — no Photoshop, no dragging selection boxes by hand.

Drop one scan or a whole folder — JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, TIFF or PDF. Every print is found, tilted ones are straightened, and you export full-resolution photos as JPG, PNG or one ZIP.

  • Leave a finger-width gap between prints on the scanner glass.
  • Tilted prints are detected and straightened on export.
  • A plain, even background (lid or album page) detects best.
  • Drop many scans at once — fix any box, then export them all in one ZIP.

What happens to your scan

One scan in. Every photo out.

Detection outlines each print on the page; you get one file per photo, cropped from the original full-resolution scan.

How it works

How It Works

Four steps to split a scanned page into individual photos.

01

Upload

Drop one or many scans — JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, TIFF or PDF (every PDF page becomes a scan).

02

Detect

Multi-photo album scans are split into separate photos, while an ordinary photo with background around the subject uses subject detection.

03

Adjust (optional)

Move, resize or rotate a box, draw a missing one, undo, or copy a layout to every scan.

04

Download

Export straightened, full-resolution JPG or PNG files — one photo directly, many as a ZIP.

About the tool

What is AI Auto Cropper?

AI Auto Cropper is a free online photo splitter for scanned prints. Scanning family albums one photo at a time is slow, so most people lay three, four, or six prints on the glass and scan them together. That leaves you with one big image that still has to be cut apart. This tool does the cutting for you: it detects each photo rectangle on the page and turns it into its own file.

Use it to crop scanned photos from a flatbed, split multiple photos from one scan, or crop photo album pages without peeling prints out of their sleeves. If you only have one photo, it works as a simple auto crop for photos that trims the empty scanner border.

Detection runs on your device — your scans are not uploaded to a server. Crops are taken from the original pixels, so the exported JPGs keep the full resolution you scanned at.

Use cases

Practical Scanning Scenarios

Wherever several prints end up on one scan, AI Auto Cropper turns that page into separate photo files.

Family photo albums

Scan a whole album page at once and get each print back as its own photo, ready to share with relatives.

Flatbed batch scanning

Fill the scanner glass with loose prints, scan once, and split the sheet instead of cropping by hand.

Instant & small prints

Polaroid-style prints and wallet photos scan quickly in groups; each one comes out as a separate file.

Archives & genealogy

Digitize boxes of old prints for a family tree or archive project, keeping full scan resolution.

Postcards & printed cards

Scan several postcards or printed cards together and export one clean image per item.

Single scans with borders

One print on a big scan bed? The empty scanner margin is trimmed so only the photo remains.

Why

Why use AI Auto Cropper?

Cropping a multi-photo scan in a normal editor means drawing a selection around every print, exporting, undoing, and repeating — then doing it again for the next page. AI Auto Cropper finds all prints in one pass and exports them together, so a 40-page album takes minutes instead of an evening.

  • No manual selection for every photo
  • Tilted prints straightened, full-resolution JPG/PNG/ZIP export
  • Runs in your browser — scans stay on your device

You stay in control

Detection is a starting point, not a black box. Before you export you can:

  • Move, resize or rotate any box (with undo)
  • Draw a box the detector missed, or use the 4-point tool
  • Copy a layout or template to a whole batch

Frequently asked questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I split a scan with several photos into separate files?
Drop the scan (or many scans) into the tool at the top of this page. Every print is detected and outlined; check the boxes, then click Export — one photo downloads directly, two or more arrive in one ZIP.
Is AI Auto Cropper free?
Yes. During the preview every feature is free — no account, no watermark, no page limit, and ZIP export included. Paid plans are planned for later and are clearly marked as not open yet on the pricing page.
Are my scans uploaded anywhere?
No. Detection and cropping run in your browser, on your device. Your images are not sent to our server.
Does it work with a single photo?
Yes. A single print on a plain scan is trimmed of borders, while an ordinary photo with background uses subject detection to frame the subject. The first run downloads an in-browser model of about 23MB, and if the subject already fills the frame or none is found, the whole photo is kept.
When does the purple AI subject tag appear, and how large is the initial download?
It runs automatically when a single photo fills the frame. The first run downloads about 23MB of model files into your browser to reuse locally with no uploads; if the model cannot start, the page notifies you and keeps the normal crop.
Will it straighten photos that are tilted on the scanner?
Yes. Each print gets a rotated box that follows its edges, and the export is straightened to match. Tilts under 2° are treated as level by default (Advanced options → Ignore minor rotations). It does not detect sideways or upside-down photos — use Rotate left/right on a crop for those.
What scans give the best detection?
A plain, even background (the scanner lid or an album page), a small gap between prints, and flat prints without heavy shadows. 300–600 DPI scans give sharp, printable crops.
What file formats can I upload and download?
Upload JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC/HEIF (iPhone), TIFF (first page, 8- or 16-bit) or PDF (each page becomes a scan). Export JPG, JPEG or PNG at a quality you choose, optionally padded to a fixed aspect ratio and with a date taken written to the JPG.
What if a photo is missed or cropped wrong?
Drag a box to move it, pull a corner or edge to resize, use the round handle to rotate, draw a new box on empty space (or Add crop on mobile), and press Delete for one you don’t need. Ctrl/⌘+Z undoes any change.
